Portrait study
Pencil, one sitting of about an hour, worked from the shadow side inward. The hair is blocked in first as a mass, then split into groups and only then into strands — which is why the top of the head turns instead of sitting flat.
The eyes carry most of the time: the thickness of the upper lid, the light sitting under the lower lid, one small highlight left alone. The clothes are deliberately loose — the paper does the rest.
