I am a painter and art teacher in China. I draw portraits from life, in pencil and charcoal, on paper.
I have taught drawing for more than twenty years, which is probably why I still believe a portrait is a decision about light rather than a description of a face. Most of what I know came from standing in front of a model with a bad first line and having to fix it.
I work on single sheets, from observation, usually over several sittings. Nothing is copied, printed or reproduced — each drawing exists once.
Alongside my own work I teach portrait drawing to students of all levels, in person and online. If you are interested in classes or a workshop, write to me.
All work is made and packed in my studio in China and shipped worldwide. See Buying for details on payment, shipping and returns.
